In Suttons Bay, the local churches provide financial donations and item collections to our local neighborhood assistance ministry, Leelanau Christian Neighbors. It is more efficient and productive to have one central location be the contact "cornerstone" for the community. All calls for assistance will be directed to this location.

The food distributed through our local Blessings in a Backpack program is purchased through Blessings in a Backpack-National, from Feeding America, Meijer, Inc., Hansen Foods and other local stores. Community donors to Blessings in a Backpack are also critical to our success. Each week during the school year over 230 at-risk children in Suttons Bay, Glen Lake, Leland, Northport, St. Mary’s and Leelanau Montessori schools along with Leelanau Children’s Center in Leland and Northport receive a backpack of food. Those children come back to school on Monday better prepared to learn and concentrate. How do we know? We hear it all the time from teachers and administrators.
